01 The short version

The Florida PIP rule – and why it matters right now.

You have 14 days from the accident.
Florida PIP (Personal Injury Protection) only covers your medical care if you see a qualified provider within 14 days. After that, you may lose up to $10,000 in benefits.
PIP pays with no out-of-pocket cost.
If your PIP coverage is active, we bill your auto insurance directly. Most patients owe nothing.
Pain that seems minor often isn’t.
Whiplash, soft tissue injuries, and concussions frequently appear mild at first and worsen in days.
You don’t need a police report to be seen.
We evaluate you on your account of the accident. Documentation is our job.

Dr. Saied Shemiranei with his wife, reflecting the family-oriented care at APMUC

You don’t find this connection these days in doctors’ offices.

Auto accident injuries have a legal and a medical timeline running simultaneously. Dr. Saied Shemiranei, medical director and founder of APMUC, understands both. His injury evaluations are written to satisfy PIP billing requirements and to support personal injury claims – because getting that documentation right at the start protects your benefits.

Florida’s 14-day rule catches a lot of accident victims off guard. Many delay because their pain feels manageable, then lose their PIP benefits before they realize how much they actually need care. We see patients the same day – and we make the paperwork straightforward.

APMUC is at 1400 E Robinson Street, Orlando, Florida 32803. If you were in an accident, call us today at 407-845-8623. Don’t let the 14-day window close.

08 Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What is Florida PIP?

Personal Injury Protection is mandatory auto insurance coverage in Florida. It pays for medical expenses up to $10,000 regardless of fault – but only if you see a qualified medical provider within 14 days of the accident.

What happens if I miss the 14-day window?

You may lose access to your full PIP benefit. Florida law limits coverage to emergency medical conditions if you don’t seek care within 14 days. Most patients forfeit most or all of their $10,000 benefit.

Do I owe anything if my PIP is active?

No. We bill your auto insurance directly. Most patients with active PIP coverage owe nothing out of pocket for their evaluation and follow-up visits.

Do you accept letters of protection from attorneys?

Yes. If your case is being handled by a personal injury attorney, we can treat you on a letter of protection so care is never delayed by billing disputes.

What if I feel fine right now?

Adrenaline and inflammation can mask pain for 24-72 hours after an accident. Whiplash and soft tissue injuries often feel tolerable at first and worsen by day three. Getting documented now protects your health and your benefits.

Can you order an MRI?

Yes. If your examination indicates the need for advanced imaging, we write the referral at the same visit and coordinate with imaging centers that accept PIP billing.

Do you refer to physical therapists?

Yes. We have preferred PT partners who accept PIP and understand accident injury timelines. Referrals are made at your first visit.

Do I need a police report?

No. We evaluate you based on your account of the accident and our clinical findings. A police report is helpful for your attorney but is not required for your medical visit.

What if I don’t have PIP coverage?

We offer a $199 cash evaluation that includes a full injury assessment and documentation. We’ll also help clarify your coverage options.
