ADVANCE PREVENTIVE Medicine: Leading the Way in Weight Management and Disease Prevention

At ADVANCE PREVENTIVE Medicine, our goal is in the name: to prevent diseases and manage health proactively, with a focus on conditions like obesity that contribute to serious, long-term complications.

Understanding the Obesity Epidemic
Obesity has become a major health concern in the United States, with rates soaring by 200% between 1985 and 2010. Our mission is to support patients struggling with obesity to achieve weight loss and improve overall health, avoiding the adverse effects of excess weight on the body.

What is Obesity?
Obesity is defined by a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher, typically resulting from high-calorie food intake, frequent eating out, and inactive lifestyle choices. These behaviors are challenging to manage alone, which is why we’re here to provide expert guidance and tools for sustained health improvements.

Complications Associated with Obesity
Excess weight doesn’t just impact appearance; it increases the risk for serious health conditions, including:

  • Cardiovascular Issues: Coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke.
  • Metabolic Conditions: Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
  • Respiratory Concerns: Sleep apnea, asthma, and other pulmonary issues.
  • Musculoskeletal Problems: Osteoarthritis, joint pain, and gout.
  • Reproductive Health: Infertility, risks during pregnancy, and polycystic ovary syndrome.
  • Dermatological Conditions: Skin issues like striae, hirsutism, and fungal infections.
  • Cancer Risk: Increased likelihood of developing cancers, including breast, colon, and endometrial cancers.

Our programs emphasize weight loss as a method to reverse these risk factors and improve overall health.

Personalized Treatment Options

We advocate for lifestyle changes like moderate, consistent exercise—starting with just 25 minutes of cardio daily—and a balanced, low-carb diet. Our programs are designed to help individuals ease back into physical activity and establish sustainable, healthy routines.

Comprehensive Weight Management with Semaglutide and GLP-1 Medications

Our weight management program centers on the use of GLP-1 and GLP-2 medications, including semaglutide (Wegovy), a highly effective, FDA-approved treatment that has shown impressive results in clinical trials. Patients using semaglutide have experienced significant weight loss, especially when combined with a tailored diet and exercise plan. These medications work by reducing hunger and slowing digestion, helping individuals feel fuller for longer.

However, semaglutide isn’t a “quick fix.” To achieve long-term results, a comprehensive lifestyle change, including carbohydrate reduction and regular exercise, is essential. Each patient undergoes a consultation to create a personalized plan for the most effective medication and strategy suited to their needs.

While semaglutide can be a powerful tool in weight management, it’s important to discuss potential side effects, such as nausea or digestive discomfort, with a healthcare provider. Our goal is to ensure sustainable success through ongoing support, medication adjustments, and a focus on overall wellness.

ADVANCE PREVENTIVE Medicine as it appears in its name is a place to prevent diseases and pathologies which can have long-term complications.

Obesity has become a major problem in the United States. The national obesity rate alone has increased to 200% from 1985 to 2010. Our mission in the health industry is to help patients with obesity problems, to lose weight, and to avoid consequences due to being overweight.

Identifying Obesity

Obesity is defined as a BMI of 30 or higher. High calorie intake in food, and extensive eating habits will contribute to being overweight. Eating out is another concern due to the higher fat and sugar/salt intake within the food.

Complications

Gaining weight is gradual and generally is not noticeable right away. Obesity is a risk factor for coronary artery disease, type two diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, breast cancer, endometrial, prostate cancer, and colon cancer. Weight loss reverses all these risk factors.

Some issues with being overweight are the following:

• Cardiovascular: coronary disease, stroke and heart failure
• Gynecologic: Infertility, obstetric risks and polycystic ovaries
• Respiratory: sleep apnea, asthma and pulmonary embolism
• Bone and joints: Osteoarthritis, gout and back, joint pain
• Dermatological: Stria, Hirsutism and fungal infection
• Cancer: various kinds of cancers

Personal Treatments

Continuous moderate regular exercise is recommended to maintain appropriate weight, and can be achieved with at least 25 minutes of cardio exercise daily. Try to restart activities slowly and gradually if you are not conditioned properly so you get used to it and hydrate yourself as much as possible with a very good low-carb drink.
